Compounding

Beaverton Pharmacy is a specialty pharmacy that provides only compounded medicine, not medications that are available commercially.

Common reasons for a compound are:

  • Hormone replacement

  • Dental preparations

  • Pain management

  • Dermatological needs

  • Veterinary treatments

  • Wound care

  • Allergies to fillers or dyes

  • A previously available product is no longer commercially available

  • Commercially available products are not in the strength you need

  • Commercially available medications cause nausea or other side-effects

Our team will work directly with your doctor to come up with the best solution to your unique medication challenges. We use specific ingredients to make a prescription specialized just for you, a loved one or even a pet!

Pharmacy Services

Please note that as these products are made custom for you, the standard wait time for a compounded medication is one week. We don't bill any insurance for any medications or medical equipment.  Claim forms for compounds are available upon request. Each insurance company has its own rules regarding coverage on compounded medications. Review your formulary or call your insurance provider to get information regarding your plans coverage.

Consultations

Making sense of the medications you’re prescribed can be confusing, but we’re here to help! Our pharmacists are here to answer your questions and inform you of your medications effects and side effects. Additionally you can take medication information with you to review at your leisure so you can recall what it's for and why it's important. If needed, call and ask follow up questions.

During your consultation our friendly staff will review with you:

  • What medication(s) you are taking.

  • How each medication will benefit you.

  • How to take each of your medications.

We can also set up all of your medications to be picked up on a single day.

Your health is personal, so your health care should be personal, too.

Sharps Disposal

Beaverton Pharmacy takes filled and closed sharps containers for proper disposal.  We have limited Biohazard storage and we can only accept so many containers per week. If you have a large quantity or are planning to go out of your way to drop them off, call ahead. (503) 644-2101

  • "Sharps" are needles, blades (such as scalpels) and other medical instruments that could cause an injury by cutting or pricking the skin.

  • Please do not include devices such as an EpiPen or pre-filled insulin pens. We can not take containers that contain such devices.

  • Sharps should always be placed in a strong, plastic container marked as a Biohazard.

  • Sharps should never be thrown loosely into the trash or toilet.

  • Sharps that retract after use, or are very small, should be disposed of like all other sharps.

  • Sharps should never be recycled or reused.

We do not take expired medication.

For safe disposal of unused medication visit the Washington County Drug disposal site Washington County Drug disposal site.  Or Medtakebackoregon.org
